I'm very excited the Lord brought you here. If you're looking for "humor with a message of hope" for your women's ministry event, conference, or retreat, you've come to the right place. Light and Laughter Ministries exists to assist women's ministry directors and other event planners by providing solid Bible teaching that encourages, enlightens, and entertains.
Maybe you came here expecting a good laugh. If so, keep reading. A while back my husband and I traveled to a neighboring state where I was scheduled to speak Sunday morning. Dressing for the event, much to my horror, I realized I'd failed to pack my dressy slacks. All I had to wear were the sloppy, ragged jeans I'd worn the day before on the drive up. Always ready and willing to help, my husband said, "Have no fear, there's a Wal-mart near!" With that, he raced out of the hotel. When he returned he told me the cashier couldn't sell pants to him until after one o'clock. Seeing his confused expression, she went on to say she was bound by blue laws that prevented her from selling anything other than food until time for church to end. Deflated and defeated, he left the store without the pants. Then he had an idea. He drove over the state line and found a Dollar General store where buying clothing on Sunday morning was legal. He snatched some dressy black slacks and soon delivered them to me. Later we joked that God performed two miracles that day. First, the Dollar General actually had dressy black pants. Second, after 25 years of marriage, my husband finally bought me something that fit!
I love sharing God, a grandé latté, and a good laugh with women. I enjoy hearing the sounds of Bible pages turning and women laughing. I'm thrilled when I walk away from an event knowing I've helped women focus on Jesus, the light of the world, while prompting them to lighten up for a moment, an evening, or a weekend.
My passion is challenging women to know Christ better and to love him more through Bible study and prayer. Not only is the Word of God fascinating, it is also a "light unto our path." When we women read it, we become better wives, sisters, mothers, and daughters. When we study it, we grow in our relationship with the Lord. And when we embrace it, we have something to hold onto when life gets hard.
I'm excited about what the Lord is doing in women's ministries and I'm grateful to be a part of it. I would be both humbled and blessed to help make your next event, retreat, or conference insightfully, delightfully special. I look forward to talking with you soon.
